Patsy Myers, Wife of PR Veteran Julian Myers, Dies at 89

Patsy Nanna Myers, an attorney and the wife of veteran Hollywood publicist Julian Myers, died Oct. 12 of complications from a stroke, her husband said. She was 89.

Patsy was married to Julian for 43 years and often shared in his life and work representing top stars and Hollywood executives, dating to his days as the publicist for Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, John Wayne and others for 20th Century Fox.

In recent years, Myers, a native of Cape Girardeau, Mo., worked with her husband to create an American holiday called Amigo Day, which encourages people to greet friends and strangers alike on the first Sunday of each month.

She was admitted to the California bar in 1976 and practiced in Century City until recent years, when she and her husband moved to Marina del Rey.

Her husband said that Myers devoted her legal career to providing help to the defenseless. For the past three years, she worked on a study of the U.S. Supreme Court and why the U.S. has the largest percentage of its population in prison of any of the world’s leading nations.

“I equate her devotion to our nation’s future with that of Abraham Lincoln,” said her husband. “Somehow she also found the godliness to be the world’s finest mate.”

Survivors also include her sister A.R.
