HTC Holiday spotted sunning itself on Australian shores

Australian carrier Telstra has revealed this 4.5-inch colossus from HTC, and the above picture from CNET shows it's likely to arrive under its Holiday moniker. This is the first LTE smartphone announced for Australia, while something similarly tall, dark and Android recently arrived in Korea as the HTC Raider 4G. CNET reports specs that tally with that other model: the big screen is qHD and the power comes from a dual-core 1.5GHz CPU coupled with 1GB of RAM. Like the Raider, the Holiday appears to be running Sense 3.0, not the refreshed 3.5 iteration that debuted on the Rhyme, and it looks primed to be one of the first handsets to launch on AT&T's brand new 4G network. So, expect to hear more from Ma Bell on this "titanic" rival soon.

lxh Park 10 Tips for Hassle-Free Business Travel

If you're a road warrior, these travel tips will help reduce the stress of your journeys.

1. Choose your Travel Modality Wisely Planes, trains or automobiles: what's the choice to be? While air travel is clearly the only way to go for long journeys, shorter trips of a couple of hundred miles might be faster via train, bus or auto. When making your decision, consider time spent traveling to and from airports, plus time spent lining up for check in, security and departure. Also consider the effects inclement weather can have on your travel choice. It's no fun hearing the announcement that your plane can't land due to poor visibility and you'll be returning to your departure airport.

2. Consider Alternative Airports If you're flying, consider alternative airports that are outside the city you're going to visit. As a rule, these airports have fewer flights, less overbooking and less delays than their larger counterparts.

3. Obtain an International Drivers License If traveling outside your own country, an international driver's license will be more readily recognized than your locally issued driver's license. The cost is not prohibitive and in most regions, the licenses are easily obtained by showing your local driver's license. Inquire at your local Automobile Association.

4. Get Your Maps Before You Leave Home Travel is less stressful if you know how to get around. Before leaving home, obtain maps of your destination city. One approach is to visit web sites such as City Search (http://www.citysearch.com/) and print out maps. Place your printed maps in plastic folders for protection against the elements. Trying to read a road map while standing on a rainy street corner has its obvious disadvantages.

5. Carry Electronic Documents Rather than Hard Copy Rather than carry heavy stacks of brochures or sales letters, take electronic documents on diskettes and have them printed at a local printing service. Similarly, if you are working a booth in a trade show, it's a good idea to carry electronic documents in case you run out of the stack you shipped from the office.

6. Find Hotels that Cater to Business Travelers Hotels that cater to business travelers will have Internet capabilities and offer access to business machines such as faxes and photocopiers.

7. Remember Adaptors and Converters If you're traveling to a foreign country, remember that you might need special voltage adaptors for electricity. You might also need plug adapters to accommodate both electrical plugs and telephone jacks. A good travel store will be able to help you decide what's needed.

8. Use Calling Cards When you're staying at a hotel, the phone bill can be a major expense. The cost of calling your family, checking your voice mail and checking your email is best handled by using a telephone calling card or a corporate credit card.

9. Check your Cellular Service Cellular phone companies regularly offer new rates. Check to be sure you're getting the best deal -- some now include long distance charges in the monthly fee. If your business travel will take you to small, out-of-the way towns, your digital phone might not work. You will need an analog or dual digital/anlog phone for such trips.

10. Protect Yourself Against Theft Before leaving home, make copies of your travel documents (passport, airline tickets, travel insurance, credit cards and itinerary).

Take copies with you and leave a copy with a contact at home. Take special precautions for your electronics. See what your local travel store has to offer in terms of protective luggage. You can purchase laptop cases that disguise the fact that they're used for laptops, or laptop cases that look old and battered. And of course, you already know how fast and savvy a pickpocket can be. Avoid carrying important documents in your purse or hip pocket.

What is Extended Term Insurance? | Life Insurance Health

Extended term insurance is a type of life insurance that is designed to make whole life insurance more attractive. Here are the basics of extended term life insurance and how it works.

Forfeiture

When you purchase a whole life insurance policy, part of the premiums that you pay are going to go towards accumulating a cash balance. Over the years, this amount of money can grow to become very substantial. In the past, if you did not continue to pay your insurance premiums, you would have to forfeit this cash balance back to the insurance company. As a way to avoid this potential problem, life insurance companies started providing a non-forfeiture option known as extended term insurance.

Extended Term Insurance

Whenever an individual could not afford to continue paying their premiums, they would instead be able to get extended term insurance. The insurance company would take the cash balance that is remaining on the policy and then use that amount of money to purchase term insurance. The individual would then be covered by a term life insurance policy that lasted for a specific period of time. The length of the term insurance policy would depend on how big the cash balance was at the time of forfeiture.

Yes, parents: The Internet can be crucial to a teen's psychological development, says a Tel Aviv University researcher

American teenagers are spending an ever-increasing amount of time online, much to the chagrin of parents who can't seem to tear their children away from Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook. But despite the dangers that lurk on the web, the time that teens spend on the Internet can actually be beneficial to their healthy development, says a Tel Aviv University researcher.

Prof. Moshe Israelashvili of TAU's Jaime and Joan Constantiner School of Education, with his M.A. student Taejin Kim and colleague Dr. Gabriel Bukobza, studied 278 teens, male and female, from schools throughout Israel. They found that many teens were using the Internet as a tool for exploring questions of personal identity, successfully building their own future lives using what they discover on the Web.

Prof. Israelashvili's research, which was published in the Journal of Adolescence, encourages parents and educators to look at engagement with the online world as beneficial for teens. Social networking, he says, is a positive example of Internet use: "Facebook use is not in the same category as gambling or gaming." As a result, Prof. Israelashvili says, researchers should redefine the characteristics of the disorder called "Internet addiction" in adolescents.

Redefining internet addiction

The TAU researchers asked the teens to rate themselves in terms of Internet use, ego clarification, and self-understanding, and how well they related to their peer group. The researchers discovered that there was a negative correlation between Internet overuse and the teens' levels of ego development and clarity of self-perception. Prof. Israelashvili refers to it as an indication that some Internet use is destructive and isolating while some is informative and serves a socializing function.

These results show that the current understanding of adolescent Internet addiction demands redefinition. Psychiatrists now classify an "Internet addict" as a person who spends more than 38 hours on the Internet every week. But it's the quality, not the quantity that matters, argues Prof. Israelashvili. The researchers determined that many teens who participated in the study met the psychiatric standard of "Internet addiction," but were actually using the Internet as a tool to aid in their journey of self-discovery.

Prof. Israelashvili says that there are two different kinds of teenage "Internet addicts." The first group is composed of adolescents who really are addicted, misusing the Internet with things like online gaming and gambling or pornographic websites, isolating themselves from the world around them. The other group of teens can be defined as "self clarification seekers," whose use of the Internet helps them to comprehensively define their own identities and place in the world. These teens tend to use the Internet for social networking and information gathering, such as on news sites or Twitter.

Adding in family time

Parents and educators should change the conversations they have with teens about Internet use, the researchers urge. The Internet is a big part of our modern lifestyle, and both adults and children are spending more time there. As a result, what is important is how that time is used. Students must learn to use the Internet in a healthy way as a source of knowledge about themselves in relation to their peers around the world, recommends Prof. Israelashvili.

If parents still don't like the amount of time their teens are spending in front of the computer, they should consider becoming an information resource for their adolescent children, encouraging a healthy flow of conversation in the household itself. "Too many parents are too preoccupied," says Prof. Israelashvili. "They demand high academic achievements, and place less importance on teaching their children how to face the world." Teens won't give up the Internet, but they may spend less time online if family interactions meet some of the same needs.

By the time teens reach the age of 18 or 19, they enter a new phase of life called "emerging adulthood," in which they take the lessons of their adolescence and implement them to build a more independent life. If they have spent their teenage years worrying only about their academic performance or gaming, they won't be able to manage well during their emerging adulthood and might have difficulties in making personal decisions and relate well to the world around them, Prof. Israelashvili concludes.

(AP) ? First, prosecutors showed a photo of Michael Jackson's pale and lifeless body lying on a gurney. Then, they played a recording of his voice, just weeks before his death.

Slow and slurred, his words echoed Tuesday through a Los Angeles courtroom at the start of the trial of the doctor accused of killing him. As a worldwide audience watched on TV and Jackson's family looked on from inside the courtroom, a drugged Jackson said:

"We have to be phenomenal. When people leave this show, when people leave my show, I want them to say, 'I've never seen nothing like this in my life. Go. Go. I've never seen nothing like this. Go. It's amazing. He's the greatest entertainer in the world.'"

Prosecutors played the audio for the first time during opening statements as they portrayed Dr. Conrad Murray, 58, as an incompetent physician who used a dangerous anesthetic without adequate safeguards and whose neglect left the superstar abandoned as he lay dying.

Defense attorneys countered that Jackson caused his own death by taking a drug dose, including propofol, after Murray left the room.

Nothing the cardiologist could have done would have saved the King of Pop, defense attorney Ed Chernoff told jurors, because Jackson was desperate to regain his fame and needed rest to prepare for a series of crucial comeback concerts.

A number of Jackson's family members were in the courthouse, including his father Joseph, mother Katherine, sisters LaToya and Janet, and brothers Jermaine, Randy and Tito. LaToya Jackson carried a sunflower, her brother's favorite flower.

The family's most emotional moment came when the prosecutor played a video excerpt from Jackson's "This Is It" rehearsal in which he sang "Earth Song," a plea for better treatment of the environment.

As Jackson sang the words, "I used to dream. I used to glance beyond the stars," his mother, Katherine, dabbed at her eyes with a tissue.

Prosecutor David Walgren noted it was Jackson's last performance.

Murray, who arrived at court holding hands with his mother, has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter. If convicted, he could face up to four years in prison and the loss of his medical license.

Speaking for more than an hour, Walgren relied on photos and audio recordings to paint Murray as an inept and reckless caretaker.

Walgren showed a photo of a lifeless Jackson on a hospital gurney. He juxtaposed the image with those of Jackson performing. Walgren also played the recording of Jackson speaking to Murray while, the prosecutor said, the singer was under the influence of an unknown substance roughly six weeks before his death.

The prosecutor said that Murray recorded the conversation with his groggy patient on his cell phone.

Jackson trusted Murray as his physician, and "that misplaced trust in Conrad Murray cost Michael Jackson his life," Walgren said.

The recurring theme was Jackson's never-ending quest for sleep and propofol, the potion he called his "milk" and that he believed was the answer. Jurors were told that it was a powerful anesthetic, not a sleep aid, and the prosecutor said Murray severely misused it.

The prosecutor said while working for Jackson, the doctor was shipped more than four gallons of the anesthetic, which is normally given in hospital settings.

Chernoff, the defense attorney, claimed the singer swallowed several pills of the sedative lorazepam on the morning of his death and that was enough to put six people to sleep. After taking a self-administered dose of propofol, Jackson did not even have a chance to close his eyes, Chernoff said, claiming he died instantly.

Chernoff, who had long hinted that the defense would blame Jackson for his own death, added a surprise. He claimed that Jackson died not because his doctor continued to give him the drug but because he stopped it, forcing Jackson to take extreme measures.

"What we will hear is that Dr. Murray provided propofol for two months to Michael Jackson for sleep," Chernoff said. "During those two months, Michael Jackson slept. He woke up and he lived his life.

"The evidence will not show you that Michael Jackson died because Dr. Murray gave him propofol. The evidence is going to show you Michael Jackson died when Dr. Murray stopped," the attorney said.

He said Murray was trying to wean Jackson off of propofol and had been giving him other sleep aids known as benzodiazepines trying to lull him to sleep.

On June 25, 2009, the last day of Jackson's life, Chernoff said, he was in the third day of a weaning process and it didn't work.

"Michael Jackson started begging. He couldn't understand why he wasn't sleeping.... When Michael Jackson told Dr. Murray 'I have to sleep. They will cancel my performance,' he meant it," Chernoff said.

Murray, in a recording of his interview with police detectives, acknowledged that he relented and agreed to give Jackson a small dose of propofol.

Walgren said Murray's claim that he gave the singer a minuscule dosage, enough to keep him asleep perhaps five minutes, was not true. He also accused Murray of deception when he hid from paramedics and hospital emergency staff that he had given Jackson propofol. He said they were desperately trying to revive him but didn't know about the drug.

He returned repeatedly to the fee Murray was to be paid ? $150,000 a month ? and pointed out that he first had asked for $5 million.

"There was no doctor-patient relationship," Walgren said. "... What existed here was an employer-employee relationship. He was not working for the health of Michael Jackson. Dr. Murray was working for a fee of $150,000."

Chernoff countered with a description of Murray's history of treating indigent patients for free. At times during the defense attorney's opening statements, Murray appeared to be crying and wiped his eyes with a tissue.

Jackson's family members appeared pained as Walgren described the singer as a vulnerable figure, left alone with drugs coursing through his body.

"It violates not only the standard of care but the decency of one human being to another," he said. "Dr. Murray abandoned Michael when he needed help."

Following opening statements, Jackson's choreographer and friend, Kenny Ortega, testified that Jackson was in bad shape physically and mentally less than a week before his death.

He said he sent a message to Randy Phillips, producer of the "This Is It" concert, telling him that Jackson was ill, probably should have a psychological evaluation and was not ready to perform.

"It's important for everyone to know he really wants this," he wrote. "It would shatter him, break his heart if we pulled the plug. He's terribly frightened it's all going to go away."

In response to the email, Ortega said, a meeting was called at Jackson's house where Ortega clashed with Murray, who told him to stop playing amateur psychiatrist and doctor.

"He said Michael was physically and emotionally capable of handling all his responsibilities for the show,'" said Ortega, "I was shocked. Michael didn't seem to be physically or emotionally stable."

Within a few days, he said, Jackson had recouped his energy and was full of enthusiasm for the show.

During the defense opening statement, Chernoff referred to Dr. Arnold Klein, Jackson's dermatologist, who the judge decided will not testify.

The attorney tried to blame Klein for some of Jackson's woes, saying Klein gave Jackson the painkiller Demerol and he became addicted to it.

He told jurors that Klein would not be testifying but his records would be available and an addiction specialist would testify that one of the side effects of Demerol withdrawal is trouble sleeping. Chernoff said Murray was unaware of a Demerol shot administered to Jackson on June 16 and thus didn't realize there could be a fatal interaction with propofol.

Klein's attorney, Garo Ghazarian, later in the day issued a statement calling the allegations preposterous and "merely an attempt to whitewash the facts surrounding the death of ... Michael Jackson while under the management of Dr. Conrad Murray."

He noted there were no traces of Demerol in Jackson's autopsy or in his home, indicating he was not addicted. He also said Klein's use of the drug was not excessive. He noted that Klein was cleared by authorities of any wrongdoing in Jackson's death.

Houston area added most construction jobs in last year (Reuters)

WASHINGTON (Reuters) ? The Houston area has added the most construction jobs in the last year while Southern California is the biggest loser in a stagnant jobs market, an industry association said on Monday.

The analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America comes as Texas Governor Rick Perry touts the state's job growth in seeking the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.

The metropolitan area of Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown, Texas, was the top U.S. construction jobs gainer from August 2010 to August 2011, adding 10,400 posts or a 6 percent rise, the association said in a statement.

Lake County-Kenosha County, north of Chicago straddling the Illinois-Wisconsin border, was the biggest percentage winner, adding 2,900 jobs for a 22 percent rise, it said in an analysis of federal employment numbers.

The largest losses were in California's Los Angeles-Long Beach-Glendale area, with a drop of 7,000 jobs, or 7 percent. Redding, California, was the worst percentage performer, losing 600 jobs in a 19 percent drop.

Construction employment rose in 146 of 337 metro areas. It dropped in 145 areas and stayed level in 46.

"Construction employment continues to be stuck in a pattern where there are just as many hot spots as there are slow spots," said Ken Simonson, the association's chief economist.

Association spokesman Brian Turmail said U.S. construction jobs overall rose by 4,000 to 5.524 million in a "stagnant" market.

Private sector spending on construction has grown by 5.5 percent since July 2010 while public sector demand fell by 8.8 percent, the association said.

Medicaid Eligibility in Long Term Care, Do You Qualify or Not? | The ...

Medicaid Eligibility in Long Term Care, Do You Qualify or Not?

Costs of long term care nowadays have increased gradually and many people are beginning to express great concern when talking about the issue. Particularly for individuals with average earnings, long term care has become more of a privilege ? a privilege only people with great resources can afford.

?

The rising costs of long term care have affected a lot of Americans which led them to seek assistance from state-funded programs such as Medicaid. However, there is a set of requirements a person needs to meet to be able to qualify for Medicaid eligibility. And to be able to qualify, in most cases, the person is obliged to exhaust all of his assets before Medicaid starts paying for the costs of care.

?

Medicaid begins paying for long term care when a person no longer has the resources to pay for his own bills. To determine if an individual is qualified, Medicaid looks at assets, starting from funds in the bank up to other assets like a car and a house. An individual is also eligible if assets fall below ,500 and his monthly income is less than his nursing home bill. The difference between the income and actual bill is paid by Medicaid.

]]>

?

Once found eligible, coverage may start retroactive to any or all of the three months prior to application. If the individual?s state changed over time, coverage ends. In some states, there is additional ?state-only? program for those individuals with limited income and need medical assistance who do not qualify for Medicaid. The following are examples of individuals who are eligible for Medicaid:

?

Pregnant Women

?

If you are pregnant, you are eligible for Medicaid assistance. Whether you are single or married, you and your child are covered under the program.

?

3 IRA dissidents arrested, 2 bomb alerts in Ulster (AP)

DUBLIN ? Northern Ireland police say they have arrested three suspected Irish Republican Army dissidents over a suspected car bomb in Londonderry.

British Army engineers are examining Monday's potential bomb at a road junction on the city's outskirts. The alert has caused traffic jams along Northern Ireland's border with the Irish Republic.

The three men aged 46, 49 and 56 are being questioned at the main police interrogation center near Belfast.

Police reported a second suspected bomb in the border town of Newry. It was found on a road running underneath the main Belfast-Dublin highway and near the town's train station.

Several IRA splinter groups seek to force Northern Ireland from the United Kingdom. They reject the IRA's 2005 decisions to disarm and renounce violence.

Purchase and Have Weber BBQ for Family members

With it?s elegant design and style and it is useful features, its no wonder Weber BBQ grills are the preferred BBQ grills amongst professional outdoor cooks and backyard grillers alike. What is it though, that makes the Weber BBQ grill so special? For that, we only have to check at the background of the Weber grill and the events that encouraged it?s creation.
Back in 1952,
George Stephen (Sr), who worked at, and was part owner of, the Weber BBQ Brothers Metal Works (a Chicago metal shop that specialized in creating customized designs for their consumers), had a bad experience 1 day whilst grilling outdoors on an open brazier grill. It seems like his aggravation stemmed from his inability to control the flame.
This aggravation inspired Stephen to make a grill that could be used properly even though the conditions outdoors just weren?t ideal for grilling.
The Design and style
of the many popular model, the Weber grill 22.5 inch is a still a familiar descendant of the earliest design and style by simply Stephen. The original model was originally named ?George?s Barbecue Kettle? nevertheless his neighbors referred to it as ?Sputnik? (the Russian name for the earliest satellite to orbit the earth), presumably because Stephen?s design and style resembled the earliest Russian satellite with it?s sphere shape and slim legged stance.
The shape of the earliest Weber grill was because of in a huge part to the materials that were offered to Stephen at the Weber Brothers Metal Works. Stephen actually took the 2 halves of a buoy (that he might have normally welded together at his job for make use of in lake Michigan) and carried out one half to create up the kettle bottom and the other half constructed the domed top rated. The brand new design and style proved to be a hit among Stephen?s family and close friends who said it cooked the ideal BBQ they?d ever tasted.
Today,
Stephen?s Weber Grills are a lot more famous than ever before. I really like the easy nevertheless successful design and style. The Weber is elegant and looks great on the patio or in the yard. It?s rugged and stands up to years of make use of (I?ve had mine over ten years).
But many of all of, the ideal element of the Weber BBQ grill is the fun it brings to the neighborhood. Sometimes, even on weeknights, I will fire up the grill, throw on a couple of steaks, pop open a cold drink and loosen up in my lawn chair.
Dusk is my preferred period and the family inevitably gathers in the yard tempted from the video games, HD-TV and computers by simply the intoxicating smell of the BBQ drifting from the Weber.
Frequently the neighbors will drop by simply utilizing their own cooler of food and drinks and join the gathering. It?s a social thing and commonly overlooked these days I?m afraid. That?s why I really like my Weber grill. In the event you already own one then you fully recognize what I indicate when I say, ?Weber BBQ Grills Cook Up Summertime Fun!?
Brand new Weber BBQ parts and additional resources for grilling can prolong the life of many previous and present makes of Weber grill. Accessories and resources can provide inspiration for brand new solutions to cook with a barbecue, aside from the original method. Replacement and additional components can be found easily for gas or charcoal grills in lots of locations. computer bugs

Study: Dads less likely to die of heart problems (AP)

Fatherhood may be a kick in the old testosterone, but it may also help keep a man alive. New research suggests that dads are a little less likely to die of heart-related problems than childless men are.

The study ? by the AARP, the government and several universities ? is the largest ever on male fertility and mortality, involving nearly 138,000 men. Although a study like this can't prove that fatherhood and mortality are related, there are plenty of reasons to think they might be, several heart disease experts said.

Marriage, having lots of friends and even having a dog can lower the chance of heart problems and cardiac-related deaths, previous research suggests. Similarly, kids might help take care of you or give you a reason to take better care of yourself.

Also, it takes reasonably good genes to father a child. An inability to do so might mean a genetic weakness that can spell heart trouble down the road.

"There is emerging evidence that male infertility is a window into a man's later health," said Dr. Michael Eisenberg, a Stanford University urologist and fertility specialist who led the study. "Maybe it's telling us that something else is involved in their inability to have kids."

The study was published online Monday by the journal Human Reproduction.

Last week, a study by other researchers of 600 men in the Philippines found that testosterone, the main male hormone, drops after a man becomes a dad. Men who started out with higher levels of it were more likely to become fathers, suggesting that low levels might reflect an underlying health issue that prevents reproduction, Eisenberg said.

In general, higher levels of testosterone are better, but too much or too little can cause HDL, or "good cholesterol," to fall ? a key heart disease risk factor, said Dr. Robert Eckel, past president of the American Heart Association and professor of medicine at the University of Colorado, Denver.

"This is a hot topic," Eckel said. "I like this study because I have five children," he joked, but he said many factors such as job stress affect heart risks and the decision to have children.

Researchers admit they couldn't measure factors like stress, but they said they did their best to account for the ones they could. They started with more than 500,000 AARP members age 50 and over who filled out periodic surveys starting in the 1990s for a long-running research project sponsored by the National Cancer Institute.

For this study, researchers excluded men who had never been married so they could focus on those most likely to have the intent and opportunity to father a child. Men with cancer or heart disease also were excluded to compare just men who were healthy when the study began.

Of the remaining 137,903 men, 92 percent were fathers and half had three or more children. After an average of 10 years of follow-up, about 10 percent had died. Researchers calculated death rates according to the number of children, and adjusted for differences in smoking, weight, age, household income and other factors.

They saw no difference in death rates between childless men and fathers. However, dads were 17 percent less likely to have died of cardiovascular causes than childless men were.

Now for all the caveats.

Researchers don't know how many men were childless by choice and not because of a fertility problem.

They don't know what fertility problems the men's partners may have had that could have left them childless.

They didn't have cholesterol or blood pressure information on the men ? key heart risk factors.

Less than 5 percent of participants were blacks or other minorities, so the results may not apply to them.

All those questions aside, however, some prominent heart experts were reassured by the study's large size and the steps researchers took to adjust for heart disease risk factors.

"I think there's something there," and social science supports the idea that children can lower heart risks, said Dr. Eric Topol, a cardiologist and genetics expert at Scripps Health in La Jolla, Calif. "Whether it's with a pet, a spouse or social interaction ... all those things are associated with better outcomes."

Dr. Daniel Rader, director of preventive cardiology at the University of Pennsylvania, said: "It's biologically plausible that there's a connection," but the reduced risk attributed to having children "is pretty modest."

Men often ask him what they can do to keep from dying of a heart attack, he said.

"I'm not really prepared to, on the basis of this, tell them to start having a few kids," Rader said.

Under fire, Europe works to bolster debt crisis fund (Reuters)

WASHINGTON (Reuters) ? European policymakers, stung by criticism for failing to stem the euro zone debt crisis, began working on new ways to stop fallout from Greece's near-bankruptcy from inflicting more damage on the world economy.

After a weekend of being told by the United States, China and other countries that they must get more aggressive in their crisis response, European officials focused on ways to beef up their existing 440 billion-euro rescue fund.

Deep differences remained over whether the European Central Bank should commit more of its massive resources to shoring up Europe's banks and help struggling euro zone member countries.

Financial markets have plunged on concerns about the ability of Europe to get a grip on the crisis.

U.S. Treasury chief Timothy Geithner, in unusually blunt comments, said the risks from Europe were enormous.

"The threat of cascading default, bank runs, and catastrophic risk must be taken off the table," he said in speech to the International Monetary Fund on Saturday.

Europe came under more pressure on Sunday when a top IMF official said the ECB was the only player big enough to "scare" financial markets which have punished many euro zone members.

"The ECB is the only agent that can really scare the markets," Antonio Borges, the IMF's top official for Europe, told top economic policymakers from around the world.

However, Germany and many top officials within the ECB itself are wary about the central bank being drawn more deeply into supporting Greece and other debt-stricken states.

"It is not helpful that we have an avalanche of new proposals every week," ECB Governing Council member Ewald Nowotny said.

Markets fear that European banks could be dragged down by their exposure to Greece and other debt-strapped euro zone nations, and analysts say a bailout fund of around 2 trillion euros would be needed if the crisis spread to Italy and Spain.

A senior European official hinted that kind of firepower was being contemplated. "We need to find a mechanism where we can turn one euro in the EFSF into five, but there is no decision on how we could do that yet," the official said.

Markets showed little reaction to the new push by Europe to tackle the crisis. The euro was little changed in trading in Asia and U.S. S&P stock futures were down about 0.3 percent.

"For all the reassurances that you can get from the Europeans, I think that we're very, very far away from getting a huge announcement of a very large amount of money," said Enrique Alvarez, head of research at IDEAglobal in New York.

GREECE MEETS IMF IN BID FOR MORE CASH

Greece, the country at the epicenter of the crisis, is trying to secure its latest wad of cash from international lenders including the IMF next month to avoid a default.

Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos, speaking to bankers in Washington, said Greece was determined to stay the course of its tough austerity plan to meet terms of its bailout package.

He complained the outside world did not understand the severity of the measures that Greece is taking by cutting pensions, salaries and public spending but he insisted the country will "make it" through the crisis.

In Athens, Greek riot police fired tear gas at anti-austerity protesters pelting them with bottles outside parliament in the first such unrest after a summer lull.

"Greece is not the scapegoat of the euro area or the international economy," Venizelos said.

But IMF and European negotiators are frustrated at what they say is Greece's slow reform pace.

Venizelos met IMF chief Christine Lagarde on Sunday and afterward the IMF said a mission would head back to Greece possibly as soon as this week to assess progress.

The European Union and IMF have already bailed out Greece, Portugal and Ireland, and officials want to stop the crisis from spreading to Italy, Spain and possibly beyond.

ERECTING DEFENSES

The European Union's top economic official, Olli Rehn, said on Saturday that as soon as the region's governments confirm new powers for the bailout fund -- the European Financial Stability Facility -- attention would turn to how to get more impact from the existing money.

The new powers are expected to be ratified by mid-October. Germany's parliament votes this week on them.

Germany opposes contributing more money to help countries it sees as profligate and the focus has now turned to ways to leverage the existing bailout fund, possibly through the ECB.

Klaus Regling, who heads Europe's bailout program, said leveraging the fund's resources did not necessarily need to involve the ECB.

One top ECB official said Europe might follow the lead of the United States, which rewrote its financial rule book to cope with the 2007-2009 credit crisis.

ECB executive board member Lorenzo Bini Smaghi said there could be a European equivalent of the U.S. TARP program, which helped shore up the shaky banking system, or the TALF, which provided some liquidity to parched U.S. credit markets.

"I think both scenarios can be followed.... I think that these two options could solve the problem," he said.

A former U.S. policymaker summed up the frustration voiced by many investors and commentators.

"In Europe, they've kind of turned this into a bad Monty Python skit, where, you know, the guy comes out and says, 'We need to act,' and the next one says, 'You're right, let's draft -- no more talking..., 'I second the motion. Let's start doing something,'" said Austan Goolsbee, formerly chief White House economic advisor.

"I mean, they're not actually doing anything. They just keep agreeing that they're going to work in concert."

Japan finds rice needing thorough radiation test (Reuters)

TOKYO (Reuters) ? Japan found the first case of rice with radioactive materials far exceeding a government-set level for a preliminary test of pre-harvested crop, requiring thorough inspection of the rice to be harvested from the region, the farm ministry said late on Friday.

The ministry said radioactive cesium of 500 becquerels per kg was found in a sample of the pre-harvested rice in Nihonmatsu city, in Fukushima Prefecture, 56 km (35 miles) west of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant which was crippled by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, triggering the world's worst nuclear disaster in 25 years.

The ministry said the Fukushima Prefecture will expand the inspection spots nearly ten-fold to around 300 areas.

It is the first case in Japan of rice containing radioactive cesium exceeding 200 becquerels per kg, a level which requires further thorough testing of the area for the harvested rice.

The government introduced inspection guidelines in August, with preliminary tests followed by more before approving shipments.

If preliminary tests found rice to contain radioactive cesium levels of 200 becquerels per kg or more, the crop will be tested more thoroughly before approvals are made for shipments.

If the level of cesium in rice exceeded the government-imposed cap of 500 becquerels per kg, shipments from locally produced rice will be halted.

So far, no rice crop has been banned for shipments.

If the follow-up tests of rice harvested from Nihonmatsu city find radioactive materials exceeding the government-imposed cap, it would deal a huge blow to Japan.

The country has been struggling to regain public trust in the safety of nuclear power so it can resume operations of nuclear reactors to supply energy as well as food safety after wide-ranging products from water to vegetables were found with radiation contamination.

What Helps You In The Identification Of The Best Phone Systems ...

The selection of phone systems for small business could play a critical role in aiding that business find success through consumer as well as business partner communications. While you select a phone system which is inadequate to meeting your company?s demand or else lacks the resources to aid in supplying company success, it could prove to be a business hindrance. One way to aid your business efforts in improving communication possibilities and decreasing the risks that are associated with selecting the inappropriate phone systems for small office, is found with using a basic guide that can aid your efforts. In order to maximise the communication options, there are some guideline which are given below which identifies number of steps which could be used to help an organisation in determining their best possibility.

1. Demand ? When determining the best phone systems for small business to meet your company?s requirements, it is important that you recognise the demand related with this resource. Firms utilise a number of avenues of opportunity in order to discover the best ways to maximise communication with their clients. All these methods of communication may be something as simple as telephone communication, or face-to-face communication, or as complex as the opportunities that are used in the on-line environment. Determining what your demands will be related to your business, can greatly improve your quest in discovering the best phone system to meet your business needs.

2. Budget ? The second area to address in the selection of the best phone systems for small office is found with identifying your budget. While every company will like to make investments in the highest quality as well as most expensive phone system that might be available, the reality is several firms do not have the budget to support these possibilities. While communication plays an important role in your business efforts, its important to identify a budget that will allow you to not only afford the installation of these devices, but also aid you in the maintenance as well as in expenses associated with their monthly use.

3. New versus Used ? One area that could actually impact your budget is deciding whether you?ll be using phone systems for small business that are new or used. The opportunity that exists with taking a good benefit of a used phone system could provide the possibility of saving a lot of money and investing in a higher-quality. Any investment into a used opportunity should be accompanied by some form of warranty or performance guarantee, so as to prevent purchasing a lemon and getting the most out of your used phone system investment.

4. Installation ? The final step is found with the installation of your phone systems for small office as well as must always be conducted by a professional. Companies would like to save a lot of money through the opportunity of self installation, but its never recommended, due to the large number of mistakes which can occur and the impact it can have on your communication efforts.

Move over, Sue Sylvester -- Mr. Schuester has a new nemesis, and it's Jonah Hill! On Wednesday's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, the Moneyball star called out Glee actor Matthew Morrison for being a big jerk to him at two different industry events. Watch the hilarious clip below -- but first, some background.

In the first part of the interview (available here), Hill talks about his awkward experience at the FOX upfronts (the annual event at which networks present their fall season to potential advertisers). Hill was there to promote his new animated series Allen Gregory -- but in a room full of established TV stars, he found himself standing around like "the new kid at FOX High School." He tried to approach American Idol judge Randy Jackson, only to get dissed for Bones actor Michael Clarke Duncan. Then he saw his high school pal Zooey Deschanel, star of New Girl, across the room. While they were chatting, a woman started giving instructions to the gathered stars. Hill stopped to listen, but says Deschanel was still talking.

"Zooey starts talking to me, and the woman (giving instructions) goes, 'Jonah, please be quiet while I'm talking,'" recalls Hill.

"And do you guys know this guy Matthew Morrison? He's on Glee?" Hill asks the audience. "This guy piggybacks on this woman calling me out -- I've never met this guy in my entire life -- he goes, 'Yeah Jonah, can't you stop talking for one second?' And everyone laughs. Everyone laughed at me! I wasn't even talking to anybody!"

"So I'm all shaken up about this," he continues. "And so I've already got it in my head that I don't like this guy; I'm sure he's a good human being, but you don't throw a dude under the bus that you've never even met before. He's a bully."

But it gets worse! Watch the clip below to see the end of the story.

So here's the conclusion: a couple weeks later, Hill was at "some douchey Hollywood party," when he spied Morrison talking to Gossip Girl actor Chace Crawford. He approached to try and eavesdrop on the conversation and ended up hearing the tail end of an anecdote -- "something something Jonah Hill!" -- and Morrison and Crawford burst out laughing.

"He doesn't even know I'm at this party and I'm the punchline of his joke?" Hill says incredulously. "Yo, Matthew Morrison, you better bring your s*** next time I see you! I'm calling you out on Jimmy Fallon!"

After challenging Morrison WWE-style, Hill jokes to Jimmy Fallon, "I'd love to see him sing his way out of this one!"

We must say, as celebrity feuds go, this one is pretty entertaining. The only question is: How will they settle it? Hill would be sure to lose a sing-off or a dance-off, so we'd suggest he challenge Morrison to a freestyle competition -- he's got to be able to rap better than Will Schuester, right?
