An Autumn severe weather outbreak is possible on Tuesday as a strong storm intensifies in the Plains and Mississippi Valley and gathers a significant amount of moisture. This moisture will instigate heavy rain and thunderstorms from Nebraska through eastern Texas, while rain will move into the Great Lakes late in the day. This deep moisture will have the capability of producing severe thunderstorms and tornadoes from eastern Texas and Louisiana through Missouri. Residents in the area should monitor local weather conditions and be prepared to take cover when necessary or told to do so by local officials.
In addition to the thunderstorms, areas of rain may fall to the north of the storm from Colorado through Wisconsin.
A large high pressure system in the West will keep much of the region dry. The one exception to this may be in western Washington where some showers are possible.
Off the East Coast, a tropical disturbance will continue rotating. This storm does have a chance of development over the next few days and will be watched closely for intensification. For more information on this system, please go to http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/.
The Northeast will rise into the 50s and 60s, while the Southeast will see temperatures in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. The Northern Plains will rise into the 30s and 40s, while the Northern Rockies will see temperatures in the 30s. The Northwest will rise into the 40s and 50s in the lower elevations. Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Monday have ranged from a morning low of -2 degrees at Butte, Mont. to a high of 88 degrees at McAllen, Texas.
