CFW Foster Care Call to the Community

CFW Foster care Call to Community Part 2

CFW Foster care Call to Community Part 1

There is a call for help for families willing to open their homes and their hearts to children in need.

CFW Foster Care, which serves our community under the Department of Social Services, is looking to recruit foster families.

Leaders say they're especially looking for people willing to take in older kids, particularly teens.

Ilene Johnson is a Resource Family Coordinator with CFW Foster Care. She says, "We have the hardest time placing teenagers in our community and we really want to be able to keep our teens close to home, close to their friends, close to the things that are familiar to them."

There is state mandated 27 hour training you have to go through to become a foster parent.

Johnson is preparing for classes to start towards the end of this month. The classes are on the following dates from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.:
January 26, February 9, February 23 and March 9.

The fifth and final class is Monday, March 11 from 6 p.m-9 p.m.

You can contact Johnson by email at ilene.johnson@dss.virginia.gov or call her at 540-771-0893.
