The United States will enter the CONCACAF Gold Cup as the 22nd-ranked team in the world, and the highest-ranked team in the region.
Barely any international games were played over the last month, meaning that there was little change to the latest FIFA rankings. The U.S. national team maintained its post at No. 22, six spots ahead of Mexico. El Tri was passed by Slovakia and Denmark in the rankings and dropped two spots to 28.
Spain, Netherlands, Brazil, Germany, Argentina, England, Uruguay, Portugal, Italy and Croatia are the top 10 teams in the world, in order.
Here are a few more stories from around the soccer world:
In the aftermath of Manchester City's 3-0 league victory over Stoke City on Tuesday -- a rematch of Saturday's FA Cup final -- City manager Roberto Mancini said that star striker Carlos Tevez wants to stay at the Eastlands.
Tevez took a leave of absence from the team earlier this season, and all signs throughout the season pointed to his departure, especially after the club signed striker Edin Dzeko during the winter transfer period.
Tevez scored twice in City's victory on Tuesday, leading the team to third place in the Premier League with one match remaining.
PIRLO LEAVES AC MILAN
Longtime AC Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo is leaving the club, and reports out of Italy suggest he will join Juventus on a three-year deal.
Pirlo, 31, has been with Milan since 2001.
SCHWEINSTEIGER DOUBTFUL FOR EURO QUALIFIERS
Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is doubtful for Germany's next three matches after playing through a broken toe for the last three matches with his club Bayern Munich.
Germany plays Uruguay in a friendly on May 29 and then faces Austria and Azerbaijan on June 3 and 7, respectively, in European Championship qualifiers.

What do you think about the latest FIFA rankings? Surprised that Tevez wants to stay at City? How much do you think Pirlo still has in the tank? Think Germany will have a problem in its qualifiers without Schweinsteiger?
